Number of private educational institutions in Azerbaijan announced

"Today, 18,000 people are studying at 11 private universities operating in Azerbaijan," Deputy Minister of Education Firudin Gurbanov said at a conference on  the "Forum of the business sector in education - Current Situation and Perspectives".

The deputy minister said that there are only 4 private educational institutions in the sphere of secondary special education: "4,000 students are studying there. There is only one private vocational school in the country. Perhaps, after this, the process of establishing private educational institutions will accelerate."

Gurbanov noted that private educational institutions successfully function at all levels of education.

"The largest number of them are in the system of general and higher education. Over the past 5 years, the number of private pre-school educational institutions has increased significantly. If 5 years ago there were 41 educational institutions, now their number has reached 144."
