Irada Huseynova: Azerbaijan will be leader in South Caucasus for development of science

"Intellectuals highly praised the decrees signed by President Ilham Aliyev on science and education yesterday," Vice-president of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, chairman of the Division of Biological and Medical Sciences, academician Irada Huseynova told Report.

She said that the level of science and education determines the power and development of each society: "World experience shows that even countries with few natural resources can develop rapidly due to science, education and technologies, and occupy a leading position in the world. In this regard, the head of state signed decrees on time. According to many indicators, Azerbaijan is the leader among the countries in the South Caucasus. It takes a leading position in the world regarding reforms and the pace of development. That decree will boost development. The decree will have a key role in the involvement of young people in science, in preparing higher-level personnel potential thanks to the integration of science and education, and in future scientific research. We believe that it will have serious results. In general, science, education and innovation are a triangle. When any of these is weak, it is impossible to get a good result. If our science is strong, our education will be strong. The power of science and education will show itself in practically applying the fundamental achievements obtained in innovation."

Huseynova believes that the training of highly qualified personnel will manifest itself in various fields: "Improving management, having certain changes, and flexibility always leads to development and success. This decree will also have successful results. There are serious, good scientists in the academy. Maybe not well promoted, but they get good results. There are strong personnel, most of whom are young people. This process will be accelerated. After a certain time, Azerbaijan will become a leader in science in the South Caucasus. In general, the Azerbaijani people are talented and knowledgeable. Our scientists and compatriots abroad have proven it. We have scientists who contribute to world science."
