UNFCCC expects joint work with Azerbaijan for successful organization of COP29

United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCC) looks forward to working with the government and people of Azerbaijan to have a successful COP 29, Chhaya Kapilashrami, UNFCCC Senior Director for Operations Coordination, said, according to Report's correspondent in Dubai.

"Congratulations to the country of Azerbaijan for hosting COP 29. We are thrilled to have a decision for COP 29. We in the UNFCCC secretariat look forward to working with your government and your people to have a successful COP 29. This is where the climate negotiations are held with 198 parties to the convention," she said.

According to Kapilashrami, UNFCCC hopes to be able to support the conversation around just transition and transition to renewable energy.

"So here at COP 28, as you saw in the very first days, we had a huge landmark decision on the loss and damage fund, which was significant. We also had the adoption of the agenda on the very first day. And as you know, for the last two weeks we have been working on negotiations on mitigation, adaptation, GST, as well as other important matters," Kapilashrami said.
