UN official joins MobilityAction event in Absheron

UN Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan Vladanka Andreeva joined an event to promote Mobility Action in Absheron National Park, Report informs with reference to Andreeva's tweet.

She noted that together with the Azerbaijani Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Mukhtar Babayev, colleagues and partners participated in the promotion of "MobilityAction" in the Absheron National Park.

The UN official stressed that cycling is a simple way to stay happy and healthy.

With the participation of Leyla Aliyeva, Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, founder and head of the IDEA Public Union, a bicycle race was held in Absheron National Park as part of the 2021 Republican Green and the UNDP EU4Climate project.

The EU-funded EU4Climate regional project aims to support the integration into legislation and implementation of climate change-resistant and low-emission targets in partner countries under the Paris Agreement. The cycling in Absheron National Park, among other events, was organized to promote clean transport in Azerbaijan and celebrate European Mobility Week.

The environmental event in Absheron National Park supports global efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions put forwards at the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) in Glasgow.
