Umayra Tagiyeva: Temperature will drop 5-8 degrees, rain expected

"As it was previously informed by the National Hydrometeorology Department, the weather was unstable in the territory of the country from May 9 evening till May 10 morning, lightning stroke in some places with intermittent rain.

"The amount of precipitation in Gabala, Kishchay (Sheki) was 8 mm, Khinaliq 5, Shahdagh 4, Girdiz, Sheki, Oguz, Ordubad 3, Goygol, Agdere (Ordubad), Lankaran, Astara, Lerik, Saribash (Gakh), Ismayilli 2, Yardimli, Neftchala, Bilasuvar, Gazimammad, Salyan, Jafarhan, Sabirabad, Kurdamir, Imishli, Zardab, Goychay, Yevlakh, Khaltan, Gusar, Maraza, Zagatala, Aghstafa, Aghdam, Shamkir, Ganja, Gadabay, Dashkesen, Shahbuz, Nakhchivan, Bina, Sumgayit - 0.4-1 mm. North-west wind reached 25 m/s in Dashkasan, 20 m/s in Naftalan, Ganja, 16 m / s in Nakhchivan and Agdam," Director of National Hydrometeorology Department of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources Umayra Tagiyeva told journalists.

She said that occasional rainfall is predicted in regions on May 11, showers are predicted in some places at night: “Hail is predicted in some foothill areas. It may snow in the highlands of the Greater Caucasus.

"The temperature will drop by 5-8 degrees compared with previous days. Water level in rivers will increase, short-term floods may happen in some mountain rivers. On May 11, rainfalls will gradually die down in most regions during the daytime. However, rainy weather is expected again at times on May 12-13 in some regions.

"In Baku and Absheron peninsula it will be rainy in some places on May 11 and it will intensify in some places on the night of May 11. Rain will gradually stop in the daytime. The north-west wind will reach 10-15, 18-23 m / s at times,  and it will slow down to 7-12 m / s towards the evening. The temperature will be 14-16 C at night, 19-23 C in the daytime.

"On May 12, the weather will be changeable cloudy, mainly dry. The temperature will rise up to 26 degrees."
