A joint project to restore the gazelle population in Georgia, implemented with the active support of the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and the Azerbaijani government, is successfully continuing, Report informs, citing the Georgian Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture.

According to the ministry, the seventh generation of gazelles has been born in the Samukh valley and their total number has exceeded 200.

The project to restore the population of gazelles was launched in 2013. Ten gazelles were brought to Georgia from Azerbaijan's Shirvan National Park and released into the Samukh Valley for the first time in decades.

Restoration of gazelle populations is one of the main priorities of Georgian ecologists.
