Otmanbozdag volcano erupted again after 52 years
Baku. 6 February. REPORT.AZ/ Today "Otmanbozdag" volcano spewed in Garadagh district of Baku city.
Report informs, Director of "Group of mud volcanoes of Baku and Absheron peninsula" of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources Jeyhun Pashayev said that expertise work is currently underway in the area: "Volcano center is located not in Sangachal but 36 km away from the coastal town. "Otmanbozdag" volcano is one the world's largest mud volcanoes. To date, it has erupted three times with an interval of many years. The last time it erupted on October 1, 1965".
According to him, today's volcanic eruption took place at approximately 12 00-13 00 pm Baku time : "At present volcanic eruption has stopped".
Speaking about the threat of re-eruption of "Otmanbozdag" the expert noted that a large number of small volcanoes located around the volcano: We can not say anything specific about the re-eruption of "Otmanbozdag", but activation of small volcanoes may happen".
J. Pashayev added that there are no settlements and objects near the volcano.
