SMS chief: "Number of foreigners wishing to get refugee status in Azerbaijan increased"

“Compared with the corresponding period last year, in the first half of this year, there was a 6% increase in the number of foreigners and stateless persons who arrived in the country, 0.4% - temporarily living in the country, 14% who received a work permit, 53 % - appeals to obtain refugee status," Chief of the State Migration Service Vusal Huseynov said at a press conference on the results of 6 months of 2019.

According to him, during this time there was a 34% decrease in the number of decisions taken by the SMS in connection with the violation of the requirements of migration legislation: "This is the result of the work done by the structure for citizen satisfaction, 8 percent decrease in the number of citizens' appeals has been registered. During the reporting period, 53,303 appeals were received by the Call Center."
