Representative of Ombudsman delivers speech at event dedicated to World Day Against Trafficking in Persons

The Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Social Services Agency under the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Population, Azerbaijan Representation of International Organization for Migration, and USAID organized a round table entitled "Combating Human Trafficking: Activities and Prospects", Report informs.

After the introductory speeches at the event, Turan Jahangirova, the representative of the Ombudsman, made a presentation on "Ombudsman's activity in the field of prevention of human trafficking".

Jahangirova noted that the country's Ombudsman pays special attention to the situation of undocumented migrants, victims of gender-based violence, children growing up in incomplete families, and other population groups considered potential victims of human trafficking. In addition, the participants were informed about the Azerbaijani Ombudsman's positive experience in the safe return of migrant children and the elderly to their countries of origin, as well as placement in shelters and rehabilitation institutions.

At the same time, with the initiative and support of the Ombudsman, it was noted that free medical, psychological, and legal aid actions aimed at vulnerable population groups are being continued.
