President Ilham Aliyev visits tomb of national leader Heydar Aliyev

Eighteen years have passed since the death of the founder of the modern independent state of Azerbaijan, world-famous political figure, national leader of the Azerbaijani people, Heydar Aliyev, Report informs.

On December 12, President Ilham Aliyev, First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva and family members visited the grave of national leader Heydar Aliyev in the Alley of Honors in Baku.

President Ilham Aliyev has laid a wreath at the tomb of the great leader.

Then, the national anthem of Azerbaijan was played.

President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva also laid flowers at the tomb of the Great Leader's spouse, prominent ophthalmologist-scientist, academician Zarifa Aliyeva.

Memories of well-known statesman Aziz Aliyev and professor Tamerlan Aliyev were also commemorated, and flowers were laid at their graves.
