MP: Tripartite statement is a victory for Azerbaijan, military capitulation for Armenia

"The November 10 trilateral statement means victory for Azerbaijan and military capitulation for Armenia. Of course, the most important part of the statement is the liberation of Aghdam, Kalbajar and Lachin districts without firing a single shot or without a martyr. Armenia did not do it on its own will but was forced to do so," MP Nurlan Hasanov told Report.

According to him, the 44-day war ended both the 30-year-long occupation and laid the foundation for future peace in the entire region:

"Perhaps the most unexpected for each of us important aspect of the tripartite agreement was the clause on the opening of the Zangazur corridor. It was so hard to imagine it in advance. In the near future, with the opening of the Zangazur corridor, the establishment of a land link with Nakhchivan and the restoration of all economic and transport links in the region in general will bring innovations for the entire region."

"Unfortunately, until a year ago, our country was one of the world's leading countries in terms of IDPs and refugees in terms of population. This was a heavy burden for Azerbaijan, both politically and economically. The tripartite statement envisages the return of IDPs and refugees under the supervision of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees. Thus, our country will be very relieved economically in the near future. Once Karabakh is fully restored, it will add strength to Azerbaijan's economic power. But, unfortunately, today the process is being slowed by Armenia's refusal to provide Azerbaijan with maps of minefields. We are trying to get these maps through diplomatic channels. I am confident that we will soon achieve this," he said.
