Hearings on Azerbaijan’s suit against Armenia start at Int’l Court of Justice

Hearings on the suit of Azerbaijan against Armenia have begun at the UN International Court of Justice, Report informs.

This is the second appeal of the Azerbaijani side to take urgent measures within the framework of the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination in response to the deliberate violation of the rights of Azerbaijanis by Armenia.

The hearings are being held at the Peace Palace in The Hague and presided over by Judge Joan Donoghue.

In October 2021, the International Court of Justice also held two-day hearings on the claim of Azerbaijan against Armenia in connection with the violation of the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination.

On December 7 of the same year, the International Court of Justice granted Azerbaijan’s petition for temporary measures to ban propaganda of racial hatred by Armenia and individuals and organizations operating on its territory, directed against Azerbaijanis. The court instructed the Armenian side to take urgent measures to prevent the violation of the rights of Azerbaijanis.
