Fuad Huseynaliyev: Armenian authorities are fully ready to sign peace treaty

The Armenian authorities are almost fully ready to conclude a peace agreement, Director of Report Information Agency Fuad Huseynaliyev said on ARB24 TV.

He noted that since the process of border delimitation and demarcation is actively continuing, peace negotiations will be activated after the last meeting of foreign ministers:

“Probably, correspondence between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the two countries is currently being conducted in some format. Also, the processes taking place in Armenia - some protest actions showed that the Armenian priest Bagrat Galstyan could not unite the disaffected forces around him. The presence of representatives of the old government there and other factors deterred the Armenian public from protests.

Taking all this into account, Nikol Pashinyan wants to end the peace process. Nikol wants to fully define the borders and then breathe life into a new stage - cooperation, the opening of transport and communication, improvement of relations with Türkiye, and other processes.”

According to Huseynaliyev, Bagrat Galstyan shows with all his behavior and actions that he wants to come to power in Armenia himself:

“This is a difficult issue. Because Bagrat is a priest, he has no political experience, and the church in Armenia has not had the practice of openly interfering in political processes. Priests played a certain role in the political life of the country, but it was never aimed at peace. The current period is the most active period of the Armenian church in politics. The Speaker of the Armenian Parliament, Alen Simonyan, also said that politics is trade, and the church should not be involved in trade. He hinted that Bagrat himself intended to come to power in Armenia.

The Armenian society will definitely not unite around people like Sargsyan and Kocharyan, who are behind the priest. Because they know that the ‘Karabakh clan’ brought trouble to Armenia.”

The director of Report also emphasized that the ongoing processes in Armenia may change dramatically:

“We cannot rule out any possibility. With the intervention of foreign forces, the situation in Armenia can change dramatically. So far, everything continues according to the plans of the Armenian authorities. The Armenian authorities are comfortably continuing the delimitation and peace process with Azerbaijan. They are in a hurry to finish all the processes. After the peace is concluded and the borders are defined, the accusations against Pashinyan will disappear. The whole world will recognize peace, and the process will be completed.”

Huseynaliyev, who pointed out that the Armenian society will not accept the church's coming to power, believes that Sargsyan and Kocharyan standing behind Bagrat is against the latter’s interests:

“The priest has not yet understood this. He thinks that by using the relations with Azerbaijan as the main thesis, he can unite around the revanchist forces and make a coup. However, the Armenian society will not accept the leadership of the church and the priest. The support of the Sargsyan-Kocharyan duo to the church will not lead to major protests. Without the intervention of foreign forces, the protests in Armenia will gradually subside and lead to nothing.”
