Election authorities in Azerbaijan register 27 candidates for deputies

"To date, 1,808 candidates have applied for participation in the early parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan scheduled for February 9," Chairman of the Central Election Commission Mazahir Panahov said today.

Report quotes him as saying that 18 political parties and 11 initiative groups nominated 350 candidates. 1,447 ran individually. Twenty-seven of all applicants passed registration, while 74 suspended their participation in the elections.
