CEC Chair: Attempts may be made to intervene in country's affairs through elections

"The chairmen of the district election commissions should know how important the elections are for the country. Political stability in Azerbaijan is the main criterion for a quiet election," CEC Chairman Mazahir Panahov said at a seminar-meeting for chairmen of district election commissions.

According to Report, the CEC Chairman noted that the electoral system in Azerbaijan meets European standards. "The electoral system has been improved, legislative amendments have been made. Political will is the basis for organizing elections in the country. Attempts have been made to organize provocations. But, despite this, we have succeeded.

"The CEC continues to cooperate with relevant international structures. At times we hear dissatisfaction with the electoral system of Azerbaijan, we explain everything, hold discussions.

"All conditions have been created for voting even in the most remote villages. But do not stop there. As you know, attempts can be made to intervene in the affairs of the country through elections,” Panahov said.
