Victory Day celebrated in Turkiye's Igdir

An event dedicated to the 2nd anniversary of Azerbaijan's victory in Karabakh was held in Igdir, Turkiye, Report informs, citing the State Committee on Work with Diaspora.

The crowded event, celebrated with great enthusiasm in the Heydar Aliyev Park on Ataturk Street in the city, was organized by the Federation of Turkiye-Azerbaijan Friendship Association and the Igdir-Azerbaijan House Association. The event began with a tribute to the memory of martyrs who died to liberate the Azerbaijani lands from the Armenian occupation and restore territorial integrity.

Sardar Unsal, chairman of the Igdir-Azerbaijan House Association, who spoke at the event, called this historical event the peak of the Turkish-Azerbaijani brotherhood: "The Karabakh victory won by Azerbaijani Turks against Armenia is one of the great victories of Turkish history, like the victories of Canakkale and Malazgirt Victories. President Ilham Aliyev liberated the lands, which were under occupation for nearly 30 years, and ensured the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. We thank the heroic Azerbaijani Army for bringing this joy to our people and the Turkic world. We bow respectfully to the memory of 3,000 martyrs who sacrificed their lives for Victory in the 44-day Patriotic War. The Second Patriotic War once again showed the Turkish-Azerbaijani unity and the power of the Turkish nation to the world. Azerbaijan wrote a new epic with the victory of Karabakh. Our dream of the Turkish Union is now closer than ever. Everyone saw that it was not a dream."

It was stated that the struggle for the end of the occupation created new Turkish sagas and brought Turkism to joy and happiness: "We adopted the great leader Heydar Aliyev's phrase "Two states, one nation" as a slogan. As Gazi Mustafa Kemal Ataturk said, we felt Azerbaijan's sadness as our sadness and its joy as our joy. That is why we are here today to share our joy and celebrate together. Congratulations on Karabakh Victory!"

The event, attended by mayors of Igdir province, representatives of political parties, non-governmental organizations, and residents, continued with an artistic program.
