Ukrainian city mayor: Azerbaijanis take active part in elections

"Azerbaijan is one of the closest friendly countries to Ukraine, and our peoples' communication is also evident for this," mayor of Sumy, Ukraine, Oleksandr Lysenko told Report's European bureau.

He noted that today the warm relations between the country's leaders are felt in interregional ties.

"Ukraine will hold a local council and mayoral elections this year. Azerbaijanis living in Ukraine are also active in this issue as both candidates and voters," the mayor said.

According to his words, the world is currently experiencing a pandemic, and the measures taken by Azerbaijan to address this problem can be considered an example:

"When we look at the statistics, we see that Azerbaijan has overcome this problem with fewer losses, and even has a green zone early. It is of interest to Europe, especially to countries with cities like ours that have been declared red zones."
