‘We stand for students, who cannot return to motherland due to temporary suspension of flights between the US and Azerbaijan,’ president of the Azerbaijan Society of America Tomris Azeri told Report.

According to her, 6 students in the US received assistance, their rent was paid.

Tomris Azeri noted that two Azerbaijanis were infected with coronavirus in New York: ‘I could not directly contact them. But members of the society talked to both Azerbaijanis. They are in good condition. We keep in touch regularly with our compatriots living in other cities. Currently, no Azerbaijani was infected with the COVID-19 in New-Jersey State. Unfortunately, many Turkish citizens died from the virus in this city. We know some of them.’

She stressed that the US did not apply tight quarantine rules: ‘People should take measures to avoid coronavirus. The rules here don’t force us to stay home. However, people use medical masks and gloves when they go out but keep the social distance. We hope everything will normalize soon.’
