February 26 declared Khojaly Remembrance Day in three US cities

The mayors of Fayetteville, Durham, and Apex in North Carolina have recognized February 26 as Khojaly Remembrance Day, the State Committee on Work with the Diaspora told Report.

The declarations signed by Mitch Colvin, Elaine M. O'Neal, and Jacques Gilbert state that the Azerbaijani community in Apex, Durham and Fayetteville and around the world commemorates the victims of the Khojaly genocide on February 26 each year with deep sorrow and grief.

The documents draw attention to the contribution of the Azerbaijan Friendship Organization to the promotion of the Azerbaijani language, culture, history, and cultural heritage in these cities.

Thus, the declarations were adopted on the initiative of the head of the Azerbaijan Friendship Organization Adika Iqbal.
