India’s spiritual leader Sadhguru calls for Save Soil movement

Indian yogi and mystic Sadhguru has held an interactive lecture in Baku, Report informs.

The event was organized by the Indian Embassy in Azerbaijan.

The founder of the Isha Foundation, Sadhguru began his 75-day motorcycle tour, planning to travel 30,000 km to 27 countries and interact with world leaders and the media as part of his Save Soil mission.

In his opening remarks, Indian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Bavitlung Vanlalvawna said that the event's primary purpose was to talk about Sadhguru's "Save Soil" initiative and the climate change.

"Sadhguru's visit to Baku will provide a better understanding of Indian culture and values and is an excellent opportunity to strengthen India's ties with the Azerbaijani people," the ambassador said.

The Save Soil movement is a global initiative for lasting peace.

"Sadhguru will make us think about important issues, urgent problems of mankind. But the main reason that brought Sadhguru here is to save the Earth," he added.

In Azerbaijan, as well as in other countries included in the trip itinerary, the founder of the Isha Foundation signed a memorandum of understanding, he said in a short interview with Report. The purpose of the memorandum is Azerbaijan's joining the movement in order to pursue its national policy for the cultivation and use of soil in such a way as to increase and maintain the content of organic matter in it at a level of at least 3-6%.

Save Soil is a global movement initiated by Sadhguru to overcome the soil crisis by bringing together people from all over the world to protect the health of the soil, and support leaders of all countries in the development of national policies and actions aimed at increasing the content of organic matter in it.

The need to start acting today to change the attitude to the cultivation of farmland, enrich and return to life the soil in which life is born - that was the message of Sadhguru in Baku.

“Every responsible scientist in the world and the UN agencies are clear that we have 80-100 crops left, which means that there are approximately 45-50 years of agricultural soil left on the planet. By 2045, we will produce 40% less food than we produce right now, and our population will be 9.3 billion people,” Sadhguru said, adding that this could result in unprecedented hunger, and therefore, social cataclysms. That is why he began his 75-day journey to draw the attention of 3.5 billion people to the problem and the need to solve it, when this can be achieved in a relatively short period of time and this doesn’t require very large funds.

Sadhguru has dedicated himself to improving the physical, mental and spiritual well-being of all people. He has been a guest of the World Peace Summit, the United Nations, the Davos International Economic Forum, the TED Conference and prestigious international forums at various universities worldwide.
