Conference on Heydar Aliyev's role in development of multiculturalism opens in Baku

A conference themed 'Heydar Aliyev - the architect of the modern independent Azerbaijan and the founder of Azerbaijani multiculturalism' has opened in Baku.

According to Report, the purpose of the conference is to study the multifaceted merits of the great leader Heydar Aliyev in the formation and preservation of the traditions of multiculturalism in Azerbaijan.

Parliamentarians from Azerbaijan, Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and others are taking part in the event.

The message of the Azerbaijani Parliament Speaker Sahiba Gafarova was read out during the opening of the conference:

"The topic of this conference is very relevant amid the challenges that the world is now facing. Different peoples have lived in Azerbaijan for centuries, and this has been reflected in many areas of life. The foundations of Azerbaijan's multicultural policy were laid during Heydar Aliyev's presidency. The national leader believed that in order to strengthen the country, it is necessary to unite all the peoples living there. The basis of this policy continues successfully to this day," Gafarova said in her message.
