Azerbaijani Minister of Culture Anar Karimov met with members of the House of Lords of the British Parliament, Lord Malcolm Bruce, Lord Donald Hankey and Oxford University lecturer Dr. Julian Faultless, the Ministry of Culture told Report.
Cultural cooperation between Azerbaijan and the British government, the prospects of these relations, international projects and restoration work in Karabakh, large-scale construction work to restore the destroyed architectural monuments and Muslim shrines in Azerbaijan were discussed during the meeting.
The sides also stressed the role of ICOMOS (International Council on Monuments and Sites), the UNESCO World Heritage Center's consultative body, which includes more than 100 national committees, about 30 international scientific committees and about 12,000 individual members, and is the only world-class non-governmental organization specializing in the application of scientific and methodological approaches to the protection of architectural and archeological monuments. They also added that important steps have been taken in the international cooperation for the protection and restoration of monuments
Minister Anar Karimov stressed that cooperation between the British government and the Azerbaijani Ministry of Culture has always been developing at a high level in many areas, especially in the humanitarian and cultural spheres.
Members of the House of Lords of the British Parliament expressed satisfaction with the visit to Azerbaijan and expressed confidence that the British-Azerbaijani relations would continue to develop.
They exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest as well.
