UN Office to invite climate experts to Azerbaijan within COP29

An event on "Gender and Climate Action: Solutions for Women, by Women" was held at ADA University under the organization of the UN Office in Azerbaijan.

Report informs that Vladanka Andreeva, the UN Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan, attended the event.

"The UN is doing important work on climate change, sustainable development, and gender equality. We want to see more active participation of women in the fight against climate change, and the preparation and implementation of projects in this direction," she said.

She emphasized that within the framework of COP29, which will be held in Baku in November 2024, the UN Office will invite experts to Azerbaijan who will make proposals on adaptation to climate change: "COP29 will be an ideal platform to highlight these issues. It is also important to involve young people in our struggle."

Sadagat Gahramanova, the Deputy Chair of the State Committee for Family, Women, and Children Affairs, and MP Nigar Arpadarai, also made speeches at the event.

"Currently, we are working on the creation of "family centers" in the liberated territories. The purpose of creating these centers is to work with families and women," Gahramanova said.
