Speaker: Azerbaijan faced double standards during COP29 preparations

Azerbaijan has faced biased and baseless accusations, double standards, and disinformation campaigns from some states and media platforms during preparations for COP29, said Sahiba Gafarova, the Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis (Parliament), Report informs.

Gafarova made the remark during her speech at the Parliamentary Meeting held in the COP29 Green Zone.

She noted that a few national parliaments and inter-parliamentary organizations also played their regrettable role in these activities:

"It is clear that some forget the power of dialogue, cooperation, and solidarity in the face of common challenges. On the other hand, they still do not understand that due to its critical importance, the issue of climate change cannot be a platform to demonstrate their narrow interests and politically motivated ambitions. Despite these unpleasant circumstances, COP29 started successfully and continues its work successfully."
