Azerbaijan will seek to address climate change issues, Mukhtar Babayev, the COP29 President-Designate and the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources told a side event on the "Roadmap for the 1.5 C mission" organized jointly by the presidencies of COP28, COP29, and COP30 on the sidelines of the Pre-COP29 event held in Baku on October 10, Report informs.
According to Babayev, now is the time to take action: "Azerbaijan aims to promote international cooperation at various levels. We have three main commitments in this regard. These are issues such as expanding ambitions and maintaining transparency."
The minister also stated that the Baku declaration will be signed within the framework of COP29: "We will try to ensure that our activities address the problems related to climate change. We need to expand our activities. COP29 allows us to deepen global cooperation in combating climate change."
