Azerbaijan attaches great importance to cooperation with Central Asian countries in implementing regional renewable energy projects, Azerbaijan's Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov said at the Investment Forum on Energy Transition for Central Asia held within COP29, Report informs.
"In recent years, Central Asian countries have been implementing important projects to utilize the region's rich renewable energy resources and offer important solutions for energy sustainability. Azerbaijan attaches great importance to cooperation with Central Asian countries in implementing regional renewable energy projects. In this context, we have established cooperation on a strategic initiative to implement the Green Energy Central Asia - Azerbaijan project. This initiative aims to strengthen countries' role in the transition to green energy and enhance energy security. Such efforts create attractive opportunities for international investors," he emphasized.
According to the minister, the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) is launching an initiative called Accelerated Partnership for Renewable Energy in Central Asia to achieve green and inclusive economic transformation in the region.
"We believe that by removing key obstacles and strengthening regional cooperation, this partnership will provide significant support in achieving Central Asia's renewable energy goals, enhancing energy security, and meeting global climate objectives," concluded Parviz Shahbazov.
