David Garrido: Football should lead by example in combatting climate change

With over 4 billion fans worldwide, football has the power to make a significant impact in the battle against climate change, said David Garrido, a presenter from Sky Sports UK, Report informs.

Garrido made the remark during a meeting with football clubs that will be part of a joint alliance to combat climate change within the framework of COP29, an initiative launched by Qarabag Football Club.

He highly praised the signing of the Football Clubs Alliance for Climate Declaration, spearheaded by Qarabag. He stated, "Football has the strength to set an example for society, and with the creation of this alliance, clubs will take crucial steps towards a sustainable future."

The presenter also stressed that football should make a strong start in ecological initiatives, just as it does on the field. "In football, the first 10 minutes determine the course of the game. Similarly, making a strong start in the fight against climate change is essential for achieving lasting success," Garrido remarked.
