During the second day of the Pre-COP29 event in Baku, Azerbaijan, Ahmet Levent Yener, the World Bank's Program Leader for Human Development in Europe and Central Asia, emphasized the critical role of risk assessment in developing effective measures to combat climate change.
"Without a thorough evaluation of risks, it is impossible to devise efficient strategies to tackle climate change," Yener stated.
Yener expressed his hope that the upcoming COP29 conference, set to take place in Baku, will serve as a productive platform for discussions on mitigating the risks associated with atmospheric pollution. "UN member states must ensure the swift development of mechanisms to assess climate change risks," he said.
