Women’s participation in active employment programs is significant, says Deputy Minister

Overall, 44,500 women were provided with jobs in Azerbaijan last year, Hidayat Abdullayev, Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of Azerbaijan, said at the event “Women’s solidarity and innovative future for the sake of a green world” in Baku, Report informs.

Abdullayev noted that 427,000 people benefited from active employment measures in 2023, and 5,300 women took part in vocational courses that matched the labor market needs.

He emphasized that the state employment policy aims to enhance women’s involvement and opportunities in the labor market.

The deputy minister added that the work done in this area has led to a steady increase in women’s labor market participation. In fact, women make up the majority of workers in some sectors. The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population values the role of women in active employment programs.

At the event, Katerina Haring, the president of the Czech-Moravian Business Women and Managers Association, invited the Azerbaijan Women’s Entrepreneurship Development Association to join their organization.

She said that this would foster international collaboration and knowledge sharing among women entrepreneurs.
