The US’s Ford Motor and GE Healthcare plan to manufacture 50,000 ventilators within the next 100 days at a facility in Michigan to assist with the coronavirus pandemic, according to foreign media.

It operates using air pressure and does not require electricity. The ventilator design has been FDA-approved since 2004.

The plant will be able to produce 30,000 ventilators a month after early July, officials said.
