Turkey has decided to suspend meat exports to countries other than the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and Azerbaijan, Report informs via Turkish media.

According to the Turkish Ministry of Trade, the reason for the suspension was a sharp rise in meat prices in Turkey. Now, Turkey has stopped the export of beef, mutton and goat meat to other countries until further notice.

From January through February 2022, Azerbaijan imported 7,185.04 tons of meat for over $12.13 million.

These figures are 1,140.33 tons (18.9%) and $1.939 million (19.03%) more than in the first two months of 2021, respectively.

Expenditures on meat imports during the reporting period accounted for 0.62% of Azerbaijan's total import expenditures.

Almost 88,000 tons of live weight meat was produced in Azerbaijan in the first two months of 2022, 3% more than the same period last year.
