Turkey intends to switch to free trade with Russia

Baku. 18 August. REPORT.AZ/ Turkey intends to sign a customs agreement with the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU).

Report informs citing Russian media, Turkish economy minister Nihat Zeybekçi said.

Notably, the 86th Izmir International Fair will run until August 27. Russia acts as a partner country in this event.

Attending plenary session "New stage of the Russian-Turkish Partnership in the Commercial and Economic Sphere", N. Zeybekçi said that Turkey proposes to sign a similar agreement with the EEU, not violating the customs agreement signed with the European Union: "Turkey also intends to develop cooperation with EEU".

According to him, trade turnover between Turkey and Russia increased by 30% last year and "this is still the beginning": "There are many areas for cooperation. There is a great potential, especially in petrochemical, agricultural and other spheres. The free trade agreement between Russia and Turkey will lead to a new level of partnership. This agreement also intends investment".
