Next meeting of Azerbaijan-UK Intergovernmental Commission to be held early next year

Baku. 1 October. REPORT.AZ/The next meeting of the Azerbaijan-UK İntergovernmental Commission will take place early next year in the UK, Deputy Head of Mission of the UK Embassy in Azerbaijan Philip Barclay told Report.

"It is a great opportunity to look for more options for trade and investment between our two countries. We hope that the talks can take place outside of London to allow the participants to visit regional centres of expertise, such as the clusters of high-tech industries around Cambridge or the world-best Rolls Royce facilities in Derby," he said.

According to him, there are currently more than 450 UK companies doing business in Azerbaijan: "In addition to oil and gas, UK companies have been successful in areas such as construction management, mining, design, retail and education. There is great interest from the UK in investing more in Azerbaijan. The UK is already the single largest investor in Azerbaijan and is well placed to increase business here. The British government and British industry are keen to broaden our trading relationship. We are hoping this year to stimulate high level dialogue about opportunities in the agriculture, healthcare, environment, space and e - government sectors. We also see scope for partnership in advanced aerospace industries."
