Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation between Azerbaijan and Montenegro held its second meeting in Baku.

Report informs that the Co-chairs of the commission are Azerbaijani Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Population Sahil Babayev and Minister of Economy of Monteegro Dragica Sekulic.

Sahil Babayev said at the meeting that the relations between the two countries, which were established 11 years ago, reached a level of strategic partnership, opening of Diplomatic Representation of Montenegro in Azerbaijan will contribute to deepening and development of the cooperation in all fields.

The minister noted that Azerbaijan and Montenegro signed 17 documents on cooperation, 5 more documents are being prepared.

According to him, Azerbaijan is the third biggest investor of Montenegro with EUR 45.04 million: "The trade turnover between the two countries significantly increased during the four months of 2019 but this turnover does not reflect the potential. There is a need for necessary steps in this field, mutual research of business environment and economic interests."

In her turn, Sekulic said that she hopes the cooperation between the two countries will develop. She expressed assurance that today’s meetings will be effective.

The side discussed the current situation and future development of investing, industry, energy, transport, communication and ICT, labor and social production, education, agriculture, tourism, culture and other fields at the meeting.

At the end, Babayev and Sekulic signed a protocol of intent.
