Electric vehicles exempt from import duties in Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan plans to reduce to zero import duties on electric vehicles with a production date of no more than a year.

Report informs that this issue was discussed at the expanded meeting of the Working Group on Border Trade of the Commission on Business Environment and International Ratings.

The benefit is reflected in the draft amendments prepared by the working group to the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers "Commodity nomenclature of foreign economic activity of the Republic of Azerbaijan, rates of import and export customs duties," approved by the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers dated November 17, 2017.

The project's primary goal is to improve legislation to stimulate and encourage the use of environmentally-friendly vehicles.

The head of the working group, Ismail Huseynov, who chaired the meeting, noted that the main direction of the action plan is to minimize time and costs in border trade, create a favorable investment climate and increase economic stability.
