Baku. 14 November. REPORT.AZ / Baku is hosting the conference “Developing Women’s Entrepreneurship in Azerbaijan”. Report informs that the event has been organized for the fifth time since 2013.

This year the organizer of the event is Entrepreneurship Development Foundation (EDF) with the financial support of USAID Azerbaijan.

Speaking at the opening of the conference, Deputy of the Parliament of Azerbaijan Vahid Ahmadov noted that the number of women entrepreneurs in the country has increased significantly, however, a number of problems remain in this area.

"Azerbaijan has taken numerous measures in recent years to ensure transparency in the field of entrepreneurship. Despite this, there is a number of problems such as high tax, problems with the sale of their products, which strongly impede the development of entrepreneurship in general," he said.

At the same time, according to  Ahmadov, several laws on tax reduction for small and medium-sized entrepreneurs are expected to come into force next year.

In turn, Deputy Chairman of Small and Medium Development Agency Nadir Adilov said that today the Agency pays special attention to the development and support of women's entrepreneurship: "So, we have already formed a Coordinating Council to support women's entrepreneurship and we are going to create a Public Council under our Agency. In addition, an electronic platform is being prepared for the entrepreneurs to apply over the problems and proposals."
