Baku hosts meeting of Azerbaijan-Hungary Joint Commission

The 8th meeting of the Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation between Azerbaijan and Hungary has kicked off in Baku.

The meeting was preceded by a one-on-one meeting between the Azerbaijani co-chair of the Commission, Minister of Labor and Social Protection Sahil Babayev, and the Hungarian co-chair, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó.

The sides exchanged views on bilateral cooperation and the agenda of the Commission's meeting.

At the meeting with the participation of the delegations, Babayev stressed that relations between Azerbaijan and Hungary are developing, and the "Joint Declaration on Strategic Partnership" adopted by the Presidents of the two countries played a unique role in deepening cooperation. He spoke about the historic victory of the Azerbaijani Army in the 44-day Patriotic War under the leadership of President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Ilham Aliyev, and informed about the construction work carried out in the territories liberated from Armenian occupation. The Minister expressed satisfaction with the interest of Hungarian companies in participating in the construction work in Karabakh, noting that several Hungarian companies are currently operating successfully in our country.

Babayev noted that the previous business forums, business meetings, and other events in Baku and Budapest, as well as the opening of the Azerbaijan Trade House in Budapest in 2019, made an important contribution to the development of bilateral relations. He expressed confidence that today's meeting of the Commission and the Azerbaijan-Hungary business forum organized before the meeting will yield successful results.

Szijjártó spoke about his country's friendly relations and strategic partnership with Azerbaijan, noting that bilateral ties are constantly expanding. The meeting was attended by representatives of relevant agencies of both countries and discussed future cooperation between Azerbaijan and Hungary in the economic sphere.
