Azerbaijan starts importing electric vehicles from another country

In January–April 2024, Azerbaijan imported 1,000 (78% more year-on-year) electric vehicles for $43.43 million (83% more year-on-year), Report informs, citing the State Statistical Committee.

During the reporting period, Azerbaijan imported 830 electric vehicles (+87%) from China for $32.94 million (+2 times), 69 vehicles (+17%) from Germany for $5.3 million (-2%), 79 vehicles (+2.3 times) from the US for $2.73 million (+2.2 times), four vehicles (no imports were made a year ago) from the UK for $1.21 million (+23%), and 13 units (+3.3 times) from Belgium for $892,000 (+3.5 times).

Azerbaijan imported electric vehicles from Sweden (one car worth $7,000) for the first time in 13 years (official statistics on foreign trade in open access since 2011).

Some 82.6% of 3,102 electric vehicles brought to Azerbaijan from 14 countries last year were purchased from China.
