Azerbaijan starts importing contact lenses from Japan

In January-August 2024, Azerbaijan imported 89,984 contact lenses worth $286,000, Report informs, citing the State Statistical Committee.

This is 3% more in value terms and 21% less in quantity compared to the same period last year.

During the reporting period, Azerbaijan purchased 44,159 units of contact lenses (27% more than a year ago) worth $80,000 (+70%) from South Korea, 4,293 units (-13%) worth $64,300 (+49%) from Türkiye, 29,802 units (-60%) worth $42,000 (-77%) from China, 4,469 units worth $39,000 from Japan, and 3,399 units worth $29,000 (no supply a year ago) from Singapore.

This year marks the first time in the last 13 years (note: official foreign trade statistics are publicly available since) that supplies have been received from Japan.
