Azerbaijan starts importing avocados from two countries

In January-May of 2024, Azerbaijan imported 395 tons of avocados (fresh or dried) worth $1.1 million, 95% more in quantity and 80% in value compared to a year ago, Report informs, citing the State Statistical Committee.

During the reporting period, Azerbaijan bought 179 tons (+3.4 times) of avocados worth $552,000 (+3.7 times) from Peru, 145 tons (+3 times) worth $220,000 from Türkiye (+3 times), 27 tons (-18%) worth $81,000 (-19%) from South Africa, 13 tons (+3 times) worth $65,000 (+5 times) from Portugal, 3 tons (+6 times) worth $47,000 (+16 times) from Mexico.

Azerbaijan imported avocados 1.2 tons worth $6,000 from Ecuador and 0.1 ton worth $600 from China for the first time in 13 years, according to the official statistics on foreign trade in open access since 2011.
