Azerbaijan starts exporting sugar to Ukraine

In January-October 2024, Azerbaijan exported 45,245 tons (63% more YoY) of sugar worth $34.3 million (66% more YoY) , Report informs, citing the country's State Statistics Committee.

During the reporting period, Azerbaijan sold sugar:
- To Turkmenistan: 27,584 tons worth $19.3 million (+51% in value, +57% in volume)
- To Uzbekistan: 13,408 tons worth $11.2 million (no supplies a year ago)
- To Tajikistan: 3,000 tons worth $2.6 million (+35% in value, +42% in volume)
- To Russia: 838 tons worth $863,000 (+5.5% in value, +21% in volume)
- To Georgia: 299 tons worth $278,000 (-89% in value, -92% in volume)

Last year, for the first time in 13 years (note: official foreign trade statistics are publicly available since 2011), sugar supplies were made to Ukraine (1 ton worth $1,300).

In 2023, 66% of the 31,777 tons of sugar exported from Azerbaijan to 15 countries went to Turkmenistan.
