Azerbaijan starts buying tobacco from US

Azerbaijan imported 1,934 tons (+53%) of tobacco worth $33.56 million (+62%) in the first 5 months of 2023, Report informs, citing the State Statistical Committee.

During the reporting period, 1,514 tons (+31 times) worth $28.832 million (+45 times) were imported from Türkiye, 299.54 tons (-62%) worth $3.56 million (-71%) from Ukraine, 110 tons (+26%) worth $608,000 (+32%) from Jordan, 4.6 tons (-98.7%) worth $333,000 (-95.5%) from Uzbekistan, and 2.9 tons (+36 times) worth $125,000 (+729 times) from Russia.

After a year and a half, Azerbaijan resumed the purchase of tobacco from the United States of America (0.06 tons worth 4,710).

Some 41.7% of the 4,369 tons of tobacco brought to Azerbaijan from 11 countries last year were purchased from Türkiye and 25.7% from Ukraine.
