Azerbaijan’s potato exports to Georgia surge four-fold

Azerbaijan exported 34,318 tons of potatoes worth $14.5 million in the first five months of 2024, Report informs, citing the State Statistical Committee.

According to data, the exports dropped by 35 percent in volume and 38 percent in value compared to the same period of the previous year.

From January through May of this year, Azerbaijan exported 29,467 tons (-38%) of potatoes to Russia for $12.8 million (-41%), 2,871 tons (-14%) to Ukraine for $907,200 (-10%), 1,281 tons (-10%) to Belarus for $588,000 (+3.5%), 590.7 tons (+4 times) to Georgia for $177,000 (+5 times), and 85.45 tons (-67%) to Moldova for $25,600 (-73%).

Meanwhile, in 2023, Azerbaijan exported a total of 71,200 tons of potatoes to nine countries, of which 88 percent fell to Russia.
