Azerbaijan, Qatar seek to establish joint business council

Azerbaijan and Qatar are seeking to establish a joint business council, and this issue was discussed on the sidelines of the Qatar International Agriculture Exhibition (AgriteQ 2022), Report informs referring to Gulf Times.

Officials of Qatar Chamber and the Small and Medium Business (SMB) Development Agency of Azerbaijan held a meeting in Doha to review ways of establishing the council.

On the sidelines of the AgriteQ 2022, Qatar Chamber chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim al-Thani met with the agency’s chairman, Orkhan Mammadov, to also discuss matters pertaining to economic co-operation between Qatar and Azerbaijan.

The officials deliberated on economic and trading relations between Qatar and Azerbaijan and ways of enhancing them, as well as the investment climate and opportunities available on both sides.

Sheikh Khalifa lauded the distinguished relations both countries are enjoying, noting that Qatari businessmen are eager to learn about the different investment opportunities in various sectors, such as agriculture and food security.

He affirmed that Qatar Chamber encourages Qatari investors to invest in Azerbaijan and that the chamber supports any efforts that aim to develop both countries’ trade exchange, “which is still below aspirations.”

On his part, Mammadov underscored the leading role of the joint business council in enhancing co-operation between private sectors of both countries, pointing to the strong will of his country to attract Qatari investors.
