Azerbaijan observes five-fold increase in ginger imports from China

Azerbaijan imported 208 tons of ginger worth $427,000 in the first five months of 2024, Report informs, citing the country’s State Statistical Committee.
According to the obtained data, this is an increase of 30 percent in volume and 22 percent in value from the corresponding period of 2023.
During the reporting period, Azerbaijan imported 175.3 tons (+5 times) of ginger from China for $353,700 (+4 times), 26 tons (-67%) from Brazil for $52,000 (-67%), 5 tons (unchanged) from India for $16,000 (+6.7%), 1 ton from Iran for $3,100 (no supply a year ago), 0.2 ton (+77%) from Türkiye for 2,000 (+2 times).
Meanwhile, in 2023, Azerbaijan imported 336 tons of ginger from 13 countries, of which 69% came from Brazil.
