Azerbaijan begins importing melons from Uzbekistan

In the first half of 2025, Azerbaijan imported 99.1 tons of melons worth $75,200, marking a year-on-year decrease of 34% in volume and 29% in value, Report informs, citing the country’s State Statistical Committee.
During this period, Azerbaijan purchased melons from:
- Iran: 71.3 tons (-23%) worth $49,900 (-22%);
- Brazil: 8.3 tons (+78%) worth $8,300(+78%);
- Uzbekistan: 6.1 tons worth $6,100;
- Türkiye: 8.6 tons (-83%) worth $6,000(-84%);
- Costa Rica: 2.9 tons (+15 times) worth $2,900 (+15 times).
In 2025, Azerbaijan imported melons from Uzbekistan for the first time in 14 years, based on publicly available foreign trade statistics dating back to 2011.
Overall, 54% of the 177 tons of melons imported to the country in 2024 came from Iran.
