Azerbaijan starts importing frozen vegetables from Chile

Azerbaijan imported 229.2 tons of frozen vegetables (spinach, sweet corn, potatoes, peas, beans, etc.) worth $404,350 in the first eight months of 2024, Report informs, citing the country's State Statistical Committee.
Compared to the corresponding period in 2023, the imports grew by 20 percent both in terms of volume and value.
During the reporting period, Azerbaijan imported 70 tons (+89%) of frozen vegetables from Poland worth $142,500 (+2.2 times), 94 tons (+18%) from China worth $137,300 (-1%), 25.73 tons (+3.6 times) from Türkiye worth $40,000 (+2.4 times), 16.8 tons (+7.6 times) from France worth $35,400 (+8.8 times), 12.9 tons (-78%) from Belgium worth $22,000 (-77%).
In 2024, Azerbaijan imported frozen vegetables from Chile (0.5 tons, valued at $3,600) for the first time in 13 years, based on publicly available foreign trade statistics dating back to 2011.
Meanwhile, in 2023, a total of 136 tons of frozen vegetables were imported to Azerbaijan from 15 countries, of which 62 percent fell to Poland.
