Azerbaijan begins butter imports from Turkmenistan

In January-May of 2025, Azerbaijan imported 8,896 tons of butter worth $63.5 million, representing a 13% decline in volume and a 20% surge in value year-on-year, Report informs, referring to the country’s State Statistical Committee.
During the reporting period, Azerbaijan purchased butter from:
- Iran: 3,502 tons (-41%) worth $21.7 million (-18%);
- New Zealand: 2,070 tons (-24%) worth $15.4 million (-8%);
- Saudi Arabia: 708 tons worth $5.9 million (no supply a year ago);
- Ukraine: 680 tons (+2.4 times) worth $5.2 million (+2.6 times);
- Belarus: 568 tons (+4%) worth $4.5 million (+34%).
In 2025, Azerbaijan imported butter from Turkmenistan (20 tons worth $116,000) for the first time in 14 years, based on publicly available foreign trade statistics dating back to 2011.
