To date, Azerbaijani companies have invested more than $3.5 billion in Georgia, First Secretary of the Azerbaijani Embassy in Georgia Sarkhan Ismayilov said at the Azerbaijani-Georgian business forum in Baku, Report informs.
According to Ismayilov, $1.5 billion of this amount came from the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR).
"Being Georgia's main trading partner, Azerbaijan is one of the largest investors in Georgia. Azerbaijani companies are the largest taxpayers in Georgia. They have created thousands of jobs in the neighboring country. Despite the coronavirus pandemic, trade between the two countries totaled more than $1 billion last year," the embassy official said.
