Armenia's rhetoric inconsistent with reality, incompetence of peacekeepers - COMMENTARY

Recently, the military and political leadership of Armenia and Armenian separatists in Karabakh are trying to extend the term of operation of the Russian peacekeepers. Some time ago, the Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, made stupid statements on this topic and stated that he wasn't against it. Recently, the Russian billionaire Ruben Vardanyan, appointed to the post of "minister of state" in the illegal government of the separatists in Karabakh, which corresponds to the position of prime minister, made similar remarks in an interview with TV channels. Undoubtedly, as the end of the peacekeepers' term approaches, the anxiety of Armenians increases since the terrorists in Karabakh commit provocations under their umbrella in many cases.

It is obvious that the Russian peacekeepers in Karabakh are not fulfilling their mission properly. Otherwise, stability would be ensured in the territories under their control. But the fact is that illegal Armenian military units feel safe in the territories under their control. As an example, we can mention that today an illegal Armenian armed group in the territory of Azerbaijan, where Russian peacekeepers are temporarily stationed, opened fire on the positions of the Azerbaijani Army in the direction of the Khojavand district. Similar cases have happened before. If so, what is the need to extend the term of the peacekeepers?!

Secondly, the trilateral statement signed by the leaders of Azerbaijan, Russia, and Armenia on November 10, 2020, stated that illegal Armenian military units should leave Azerbaijani territories in parallel with the deployment of peacekeepers in Karabakh. But it didn't happen. It is another proof of the Armenians' insidious plans and the peacekeepers' inability to fulfill their mandate.

Thus, it is clear why Armenians are trying to extend the peacekeepers' term. It does not indicate their constructive regional policy but, on the contrary, their revanchist plans. Perhaps, it is desirable for the patrons of Yerevan. Nevertheless, the trilateral statement and its requirements are clear.

President Ilham Aliyev gave an important message about the activities of peacekeepers while addressing the military in Shusha in November. The head of state said that Russian peacekeepers are temporarily stationed there: " Russian peacekeepers are temporarily stationed there. November 10, 2020, statement indicates their term, and if Armenians rely on someone, they will still face tragedy.

This message was specifically addressed not only to Armenia's military and political leadership but also to its patrons.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, who picks up the phone and hopes for help from world leaders as soon as he is in trouble, can 'dream of millet like a hungry chicken'. But the facts are clear. Official Iravan has tried several times not to come to terms with the existing realities, to protest allegedly. And each time, it faced a more complex situation. Therefore, as President Ilham Aliyev said, Armenians should behave logically and not play with fire. Otherwise, they will cut the branch they are sitting on with their own hands.
